The Canvey Island 1 st XV, secured their place in a competitive London 4 NE Division, for the 3 rd year in a row.
This year sees the second tenure of Andy Hawes & Dick Gibbons at the helm.
A successful & tortures' pre season, has really helped & the 1 st XV expect big things of themselves this year.
The development and maturity of some of the clubs younger players, together with the return of Tom Gillingwater from Barking, means competition for places is being hotly contested.
As a Club in general, lots of work has gone in on & off the field. The clubhouse interior has been transformed.
The Youth set up is as healthy as it has been in years.
Old head Rob Edwards has re-emerged to lend a hand 'beasting' the lads in pre season, and Steve Murphy continues his tireless support in every capacity to me as a captain & the club.
Andy & Dick's hard work, attention to detail and passion, is the main reason I stayed on as Captain for a 3 rd year.
With the work that has gone in over the summer, from every aspect of the club, I know results for the 1 st XV are a must. That is after all what a club is measured on………… Big responsibility……….. Big Shoulders!
