3rd XV - The Gnus
Kevin Hobart
(3rd XV skipper)
The Gnus earned their name from a match write up in the Canvey news. One drunken slur later and news had become Gnus and the name has stuck ever since.
This season see's Canvey Island 3rd Team, building on the Club's success from last season, and is an integral part of the 2nd and 1st XV's development plans. Under the guidance of new 3rd Team Captain Kevin (Odd Job) Hobart, the standard is set for an exciting and fun season. "I see the 3rd Team as a proving ground for young and new players joining the club. Supported by a good mixture of social players out to enjoy the game a couple of times a month, and willing to help and support team mates to the success of the team and the club. The main theme for the season will be to have fun and enjoy the games."
The re-shuffle of the Merit Tables means The GNUS find themselves in Division 8, along with some old friends, Dagenham 3s, Bancroft 3s and Billericay 3s to name just a few.The GNUS will want to build on Giles Grouts hard work last season, and like the STACKS push to win the division.
New players are always welcome in the club and in the GNUS, beer drinkers, party animals, and arm chair supports are also needed. So calling ex-players or all those "one more game before I hang up my boots" give Kevin a call to book your spot in the GNUS. Training optional!
