Under 16's Match Report - 18th February 2007
(Home against Southend)

Coming onto the pitch after a seriously below 12-man training session on Thursday, Canvey came into a game against a team which beat them 22-0 earlier in the season.
As soon as the match kicked off, both teams were locking horns, with many players from either side making sure that they made an early impact.
With a very limited amount of players, and some positional changes, The MisFits had to make sure that they worked a little more together, sadly the link between pack and backs was rather weak and much of the game was dominated primarily on the weakened communication.
Fighting hard against a much more physical side, The MisFits were showing that they had heart and could take a fair few hits.
Within the first 10 minutes, Southend kicked between the posts after Canvey smothered the ball (penalty scored).
The first 20 minutes, as Biff, Kevin, DelBoy and Luke said were where we did our work, every player seemed to be ready to play in the early stages, yet fatigue managed to be the key factor, with fitness proving to be one of the ultimate catalysts within the match.
Not everything turned out bad, Jake 'Clement1' Clement displayed some fine line-out throwing (shame about the catching), Shaun 'Sorry' Hulroyd penetrated the defence well on many occasions and gained precious yards.
Southend managed to cross the line on many occasions, scoring 6 tries, 4 conversions and a penalty but the better team did prevail.
Some players did play good individually, yet the teamwork needs to follow, a few wise decisions were overturned by a couple of *cough* worse decisions and as a team we should be happy that with a bare 16 players we managed to fend off a better team for a good period of time
Hopefully ALL MisFits will be at training on Wednesday to recover and get ourselves back on the map!
