Under 16's Match Report - 19th November 2006
(Away to Chingford)

The dismal looking scoreline suggests that The Wildcats did not have their A game on, yet they did not play as the scoreline suggests.
This will not be one of my usual in-depth write ups, as not much needs to be said.
The Wildcats defended valiantly, fighting back at the much larger and more well formed opposition, with each turn of possession, the better side came out with the ball.
Tackles were made left right and centre, and not a single Canvey lad left the field without feeling as though they had contributed to the defence.
Canvey did have some sparks of imagination, one came from the boot of Connor Cowee who decided to dink the ball over Chingford heads and force a line out. Jake Young did as he always does, carried the ball and broke tackles, but even the Yank couldn't make it through the formidable Chingford defence.
There were also various scenes of violence around the pitch, with fists being thrown, words spewed and a Yellow Card being given to Mr.Scott Aplin. Canvey always went out with their heads up and at times looked so threatening just inches from the Chingford line, Jack Chandler made 1 of his 2 attempts at goal, to make sure that Canvey weren't whitewashed.
Some Canvey boys who really made it worthwhile today were; Jake Young for making those extra few yards, Billy Gorringe for his amateur theatrics, Billy Marsh for writhing in pain only to tell the ref he was fine, Shaun Hulroid for 'feeling like crap' and Mr.Scot Aplin for doing what he does best.
The aggression and charisma oozing from the Wildcats side was immense, each player was pumped up and ready for action, it was the technical side of things that killed the game, a side that has been together since the age of 10 is a hard task for a new established team.
Next week Canvey see Burnham-On-Crouch at home and will be looking for a little bit of retaliation over today's fixture, BRING ON BURNHAM!!!!
