Score: 14 - 5
Canvey went in to this game having to play flanker Matt Lay and utility player Jack Gillingwater in the centers, due to injuries and unavailability and they did not disappoint in their unfamiliar positions.
Canvey looked dangerous for 90% of the game only for the final pass or bounce or the ball to go amiss. But Canvey attacked right from the start and 6 minutes into the game after a penalty kick to the corner they won the lineout and after a forward drive prop Jamie Saunders went over for a try, converted by fullback Jay Bedford.
The game itself never really got going becoming a stop-start affair. Canvey turned round 7-0 up. The second half was much the same until a quickly taken free kick resulted in Jay Bedford coming in to the line for a well made try. With only minutes to go Wymondham scored from a scrum in the corner when the no 8 picked up a loose ball.
Young flanker Tony Wheeler playing his first game for the 1st team and flanker Craig North both put in tremendous work throughout the game.
