1st Team Match Report - 30th August 2008
(Trial Games against Dagenham and Campion)

With a couple of players unavailable Canvey took a squad of 19 to campion, for a 15 aside competition. It was another chance for the coaches to asses the squad, unfortunately only Canvey, Dagenham & Campion turned up. This meant that they played each other twice and the top two played in the final.
Canvey lost to Campion in the first game 12-10, then beat Dagenham 33-0. Playing Campion for the second time Canvey won 7-0, then beat Dagenham 12-7 which put them top going into the final against Campion. Coming away with a 12-8 victory Canvey won the day.
Canvey coach Andy Hawes said "Canvey controlled the set piece and dominated possession and this week they were able to turn it into points. I am very pleased with the players especially the forwards, most whom played 120 minutes on a hot day ! " using the 5 12 minute each way games to look at the players before finalising next weeks squad against E.D.F rivals Whitstable.
