Under 13's Match Report - 12th October 2008

The fog was rolling in of the creek and you could hardly see one end of the pitch from the other. By the time kick off had arrived the fog had lifted and Danny, the ref for the day, blew his whistle and the boys were away.
For the next 30 mins all the hard training from thursday was paying of. Caveny piled the pressure on Thurock forcing them to kick just to get some space, but Canvey just kept coming back at them. The backs made some good runs ,Carl, Pat, Gregg and all the backs made a big impression on the game. This coupled with the forwards staying with the ball made for an excellent first half.
The second half sarted with Thurrock scoring all most immediately,shortly after this, one of Thurrocks boys (Ryan Wilkins) sustained what appeared to be a serious injury to his neck. An ambulance was called and after a while Ryan was taken to hospital. While this was being sorted out it was decided to change the pitch and carry on with the match.
It must be said that our boys were playing the best rugby seen from them this season, the pack were winning the scrums and the backs free runing the ball with fantastic passing. Archie Leaming who was man of the match had a great game with tireless tackling , with 5 mins to go the boys got there reward when Carl broke away and made a stunning run to put the ball down between the posts.
Kevs words after the game,"boys you were awesome just awesome". Just to let every body know Ryan is fine and was last seen in his dads car eating Macdonalds on his way home.
