General Information About Rugby
Here is some general infomation and guidance about playing rugby union. If you would like to see something else here, let us know.
Rugby has many rules (known as 'laws') which change from year to year. To keep up to date click here regularly.
For younger players the game is governed by the Continuum. The Continuum has several sections which allows a steady progression into the adult game. Safety of young players is paramount and for this reason 'squeezeball' is not allowed. Click here to find out more.
Rugby is a physical game. No one wants to be injured, especially if it's due to a bad piece of kit. It's good practice to keep your kit in good order and if it's damaged, replace it. Protective clothing must be IRB approved and will have an IRB label / mark. Click here for guidance. All aliminium studs must comply to BS 6366.
Please ensure the pitch has been inspected for hazards before you play. Remember, it's not just the home sides responsibility to ensure the playing area is safe... safety is everyones responsibility. Click the thumbnail for a larger view.
